You are warmly invited to apply to audition for Sydney Youth Orchestra in 2014! SYO alumni are placed in all the professional orchestras and key chamber ensembles in Australia and many overseas. It is clear that this weekly foundation of professional training is an important springboard for serious young musicians. Further to that, SYO is a wonderful community for young musicians, providing a gathering of like-minded souls, leading to life long friendships and associations.

Auditions are a vital part of orchestral training and our aim is for them to be a positive experience, with the primary goal being to ensure each musician is placed in the appropriate ensemble for their skill and experience. Auditions will be held during the weekends of October and the first weekend of November, and audition excerpts will be sent to you as soon as you complete your application. So, get your application in and start practicing!

There will be an Auditions Seminar Day on Saturday 14 September, when all orchestras and conductors will speak to applicants about the 2014 audition excerpts, and what the panels are looking for. Further information about this will be sent to all applicants via email. If you are considering auditioning, and want to find out more about what to expect on the day, click here to view a video

featuring an interview with our Junior Strings Coordinator, Nick Tester.

Applications have been extended until Monday 9 September. All applications must be made through our online form
