Pats on backs

Positive feedback is always much appreciated – see the letter recently received, below. Thanks Mr Godby for taking the time to write; it makes us all feel good!

Dear Donna, Luke and MEP Parents,

I would like to congratulate you all on the organisation and running of the MEP Gold Coast Tour.

It was an absolutely wonderful educational opportunity for our students and staff alike. I have often watched the MEP program from afar, attending concerts, listening to students playing amazing music (while I conduct PE lessons on the basketball courts!) and seeing them collect their gear from our combined classroom. However, being part of their tour experience, I gained a privileged  insight into the true talent of these students and was also able to get to know them better.

The cohort of students that attended this tour was nothing short of amazing. Not only are these students excellent musicians, but they are also wonderful indiviuals.

This is the first time I have ever attended a camp that has integrated studentes fromYear 7 to Year 11. No doubt, it was the common bond of music that enabled these students to get along so well. From speaking to students during the tour, they absolutely loved performing in front of the Primary Schools and the afternoon activities.

The MEP program is such an asset to the RBSC community. It is an outstanding example of collaboration; with parents, staff and students all working together to create a brilliant program. The original MEP founding parents, and the current MEP parents, need to be particularly commended for all their hard work in establishing and supporting this program.

I would also like to congratulate Luke and Doona for their leadership and commitment in the MEP. Both of these excellent educators have such a wonderful way of interacting with the students and it is little wonder that they re so highly respected and valued by the MEP students. Donna, I am so inspired to see your work with these students and to see your passion and commitment. Similarly, it is easy to see why our students have such a great respect for Luke who is just such a dynamic and passionate educator. Luke, you will be greatly missed by the RBSC community.

Lastly, thank you so much to the MEP for allowing me to go on the tour. In my 18 years of teaching this is by far and away the best tour/camp that I have ever attended. The staff and students that attended this tour were united in their desire to make the most out of the experience and to that end we were all highly successful.

Regards

Ian Godby
