The Orchestre Romantique is a brand new orchestra which counts among its members some of Australia’s best orchestral players. They’ve come together to perform the masterworks of the great Romantic composers in a historically authentic way – which means performances feature several now obsolete instruments of the era, including rarely heard oddities such as the ophicleide (a bizarre brass/wind hybrid invented in 1817) and the serpent (a curious relic from the Renaissance)to One of our members has recommended the orchestra’s upcoming concert at Paddington Town Hall as a not-to-be-missed event: great music, fantastic value for money (tickets start at just $15) and not too far to drive to. It’s this Sunday, March 6 at Paddington Town Hall, at 3pm. You can find more information about the concert and buying tickets here.
