Update from Luke

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone for another great term…it definitely seems to have flown past.  We had a very productive meeting last week with the committee and can I encourage you all to attend and/or provide feedback to us.  We want to know what is working well and what we can do to improve but we need the feedback.  With this in mind, a short MEP survey is being drafted and will be sent out to all parents/students to help us plan for the future.

One of the exciting things to come out of last week’s meeting is that we will definitely be touring to the Gold Coast next year in either Term 1 or 2.  This tour will be open to anyone who is a member of the Concert Bands or the Choir.  Sooooo, if you aren’t a member of any of these groups can I encourage you to join and come on tour with us.  Ideally, all new members of the choir or concert band will join these groups next term in order to rehearse sufficiently for the tour.

The tour will include at least 5 performances as well as a day at a theme park…a nice reward at the end!  The budget is still to be finalised but will be in the vicinity of $550-$600 all inclusive.  Please note that the tour will be instead of Music Camp next year and so it would be great if everyone attended.

Finally, a quick update on performances for next term:

Tuesday October 19 – MEP Committee Meeting
Thursday November 11 – Primary Schools Choral Concert with RBSC Choir and Vocal Ensemble
Tuesday November 30 – Ensembles Concert – all ensembles – NEW DATE!
Tuesday December 7 – RBSC Orientation Day – Choir and Concert Band TBC
Wednesday December 8 – DET State Office –
Presentation Ceremony with Minister and Director-General, Vocal Ensemble

Have a great holiday and don’t forget to practise!
